Gasoline Gets More Expensive

Monday marks the 48th day in a row that gasoline prices have risen, even as demand for gas remains weak. This streak matches a record for this decade as oil has increased rapidly from its lows in conjunction with the U.S. dollar’s drop in value. Because oil is priced in U.S. dollars, the rise in prices has not been as severe for buyers using non-U.S. currency. On Monday, crude oil sold off nearly 3% as the dollar strengthened and equity markets around the world dropped. Opinions among analysts very greatly, but it appears that demand has not been a primary driver of the gains in oil and gasoline prices, at least not in comparison to the decline of the dollar. This could be a scary prospect as the markets are hoping to see the green shoots develop into a full blow consumer driven recovery. It Isn’t A Delorean, But This Flying Car Can Cut Commutes All The Same

We might be in a recession but that doesn’t mean creativity is dead. Take the Transition for example, what they hope will be the first successfully marketed “roadable aircraft.” At least that’s what Terrafugia, the company who designed it are calling it. I prefer to call it what it is, a drivable plane or a flyable car. Either one works, though the picture much more resembles an aircraft than an automobile. But regardless, it’s a dream come true for everybody who ever looked longingly at that flying Delorean in Back to the Future, or wished for the umpteenth time that they could skip rush hour traffic somehow, even if it meant flying over the backed-up traffic. I’m not sure what traffic laws, if any, the latter would violate, but that previously hopeless daydream is now a reality thanks to a group of MIT students. July 4 Travelers, Fuel Prices Lighter Than '08

Jul. 3--Gasoline prices in South Carolina have been falling for nearly two weeks, but holiday road travel for the Fourth of July weekend still is expected to be 2.4 percent lower than last year, according to AAA Carolinas.
Bill Murphy of Cincinnati said he has noticed a big difference on the highways leading up to this July 4 holiday, compared with the same time last year.
On his way to Hilton Head, a trip he takes each year with his family, Murphy stopped to fill his tank at the Sunoco gas station off Reidville Road on Thursday.
