Taser International Reports Decent Quarter

It is hard to believe that it has been nearly two years since the infamous web video of the, “Don’t taze me bro,” incident occurred during a John Kerry speech at the University of Florida. The incident has received a lot of attention in that time, and has even spawned T-shirts and other various fanfare mostly in support of the rebellious student. Taser International (TASR), the company whose product was at the center of that “exchange,” reported second quarter earnings on[More...]

Second Bullish Intraday Reversal In-A-Row Comes On Lower Volume; For The Week, Stock Indexes Pullback On Higher Volume

It was a fitting end to a week that saw emotions pull dramatically at first to the bear side then to the bull side before the week came to end. Today, like yesterday, saw the market selloff early on only to see the bulls pull out an amazing display of confidence as indexes reversed and closed in the green on both Thursday and Friday’s trading session. The same market action that was seen on Thursday and Friday was also seen this week during the past five session. Stocks started the week on a very weak note, sending me from 11 small longs to 5 smaller longs as some recent stocks that I went long gave me signals that they were not ready to blast off and make runs higher quickly. But there was a slight hint that the turn down might not last long. What was that hint? It was the fact that I could only generate ONE NEW short position during the first three days of this very weak week. The Nasdaq fell 5.2% but I only had ONE NEW short that setup in what I[More...]

Nice Rally Today Too Bad It Was On Below Average Volume

Today’s rally, while it probably made you feel all nice and warm on the inside, was still as cold as the grips of a long term bear market. Why? The leadership, silly. The leaders are all still coming from groups that reside in the bottom 25% of industry groups. When you have a real bull market from a bottom you can be FOR SURE that the top 25% of industry groups based on price performance will be leading the way. Right now, there is only one area of leadership, and I am sorry folks that is not going to cut it. That group is the education stocks which are being helped by the only recent IPO out there in LOPE. Besides that we really do not have any amazing group leading. Business Services is such a diversified area that while some stocks look great some look horrible. The facts of a bull market show that in a real bull market rally leading stocks in leading groups help lead the market higher. What we could have here is a bear market[More...]

Stocks Put In A Very Bullish Session Across The Board With One Big Problem: No Volume

Stocks put in a very impressive drive higher as another round of short-squeezing hit investors who were a little too heavily short coming into today. The reason why I would call this another short-squeeze rally is that, once again, volume has fallen on a day where the market rallies an extreme amount. If you are playing the indexes on an intraday or very short term basis, the volume is not important and all you will need to focus on is the price action. Then you either move with the trend and/or use support and resistance on price charts to implement your methodology. However, when it comes to wanting to build stock/option positions over a period of time and reap the huge rewards that come to those who invest with those, you need to see volume expand on the rallies and retreat on the pullbacks before you can feel confident to go all-in long with full margin. Until we find volume showing up on the rallies on the indexes, with pullbacks[More...]

The Recent Rally Attempt Is Dead As Three Of Four Major Stock Market Indexes Make New 52-Week Lows

It was a brutal day if you were a falling knife catcher as the market took those impatient bulls who believed the lows were in out and beat them silly with a 6.5% loss on the Nasdaq, a 6.6% loss on the NYSE, and a 6.1% loss on the SP 500. The losses were made even more damaging by the fact that they hit new lows from the recent rally attempt and volume picked up giving the market a very heavy distribution day. This distribution day adds to the pressure the market is facing as each and every day passes. The market in terms of the Nasdaq and Nasdaq 100 are now down over 51% from the October 2007 highs. These losses have been extremely damaging to the psychology of many market players and has done some major damage to individuals portfolios. This sad news is made even more sad knowing that the market does not appear to be near a low–at least as far as the market is currently concerned. This is obvious to me via the volume that is coming[More...]

Yet I still had NEWBIE subscribers trying to buy breakouts left and right. Part of the problem is that I will mess around with a few hundred dollars in a stock out of a very large cash amount. Most of you can not dink around like me and must wait for a perfect setup (like XSI was close enough to) before you make your move. I will go out and buy stocks like GXDX. But that in no way, in this market, that is going nowhere, is any kind of signal for you to buy stocks.I don’t know why some of you don’t get it but it always seems to be the cocky-ignorant-uneducated-newbie that comes into the market thinking “there is always a time and a place to make big money.
Another Selloff Hits the Market with Volume Well Below Average

The stock market indexes all continue to trend below the 50 day moving average with the 200 day moving average trailing right behind it. This is the most bearish possible scenario for the indexes to be in and looking to go long stocks with the indexes setup like this is just asking for trouble. However, the worst possible other factor is finally being relieved. I was not making money in my shorts recently with the market in this negative position but now my shorts are doing well and even the shorts that I lost due to reversals that were unexpected are doing very well. This just goes back to underline how important it is to have guts. If the stock is breaking down on huge volume, with the indexes in clear downtrends, it makes sense that as long as the stock is within 20% of its old highs as long as the pattern is right then it makes sense to get short. I will be looking to get short as many mining, oil, metal, ag, and other stocks that have been rising since[More...]

There are times when to get REALLY INVESTED and there are times to do nothing. For 90% of you (unless you are picking my longs and shorts BEFORE I do) doing nothing is the only right thing right now. I simply see too many people actively investing that should be completely on the sidelines. And if you are on the sidelines STOP THE PREDICTING!! Just wait for really nice charts to set up and breakout.I think sometimes the best advice is no advice and right now I wish a LOT OF YOU would stop going to these financial websites for “advice” when all these writers are spouting out random analysis that is shameful and when I read it makes me confident I will continue to outperform the masses.
