Trico Marine Services Inc. (NDAQ: TRMA) directors may be forced to fight for their job after an activist shareholder opposition to the company’s current plans. Tidewater's Diesel-Electric Psv's

The first of a series of 12 planned Platform Supply Vessels will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2010 Tidewater Inc., New Orleans, La., is planning to construct a series of 12 diesel- electric platform supply vessels (PSVs) based on a design from a Polish naval architect.
MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting Ltd. is supplying its MMC 887 PSV design for the series.
The PSVs are being built at China's Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd. The PSVs will be 87.2m x 18.8m x 7.4m, with a scantling draft of 6.2m and design draft of 5.9m.

Small-cap managers see good bets in energy stocks

BOSTON - As market observers watch for early signs that better times are around the corner, they're paying close attention to small-company stocks, which tend to recover earlier than large-company stocks coming out of a recession.
Small-caps collectively suffered a 26 percent loss in the fourth quarter compared with a 22 percent decline for large-caps, according to fund tracker Lipper Inc. But that's mainly because small-caps had a terrible start to the quarter in October and November.
ERIC CINNAMOND, INTREPID SMALL CAP FUND (ICMAX): This value fund has roughly doubled its assets to $40 million in recent months, as investors were drawn by its relatively strong performance in a lousy market.

Tidewater Reports First Quarter Results For Fiscal 2010

Tidewater Inc. (NYSE:TDW) announced today first quarter net earnings for the period ended June 30, 2009, of $44.5 million, or $0.86 per share, on revenues of $326.6 million. Included in net earnings for the June 2009 quarter is a non-cash charge totaling $48.6 million ($47.7 million after-tax, or $0.93 per common share) related to the company’s Venezuelan operations. As a result of the seizure of 11 vessels and certain other assets during the June quarter in Venezuela pursuant to a May 2009 Venezuelan law and the continued nonpayment of outstanding receivables from Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) and an affiliate of PDVSA, the company recorded a $3.8 million charge equal to the net book value of the assets seized and a $44.8 million provision to fully reserve accounts receivable due from PDVSA-related entities.[More...]
