I definitely, first off, do NOT watch CNBC. This should be the last thing all of you newer investors should do. A lot of people that watch CNBC tell me that they do not have enough time to read Investors Business Daily and instead find it easier to listen to the raving madness of Cramer. This is baloney. All you need is 20 minutes a day to read ‘the big picture,’ ‘the investors corners,’ and any of the other investors education articles. If you do this every day, I realize that it will not be fast, but eventually you will learn the right way to make money in the market. The same way the greatest traders ever, which were detailed year by year by John Boik in his fabulous books, traded is the same way you should invest. If the greatest all invested a certain way, shouldn’t you to? Friday's close was the lowest since October 2006. The NASDAQ has been carving a symmetrical triangle for 5 weeks. Symmetrical triangles are generally continuation patterns, so Friday's action was no surprise, and probably a welcome relief after all the narrow range trade as price moved closer to the apex. Prices gapped some 20 points lower and continued lower on higher volume in afternoon to end the session off by 60 pts. or 2.6%. As always, we take a look at some of the more notable earnings surprises for the day, and how the share prices have been reacting thus far in today's trading:Nasty Miss for ARMWith a negative 400% earnings surprise on almost -30% sales growth, it may be tough to understand why transportation industry equipment supplier ArvinMeritor (ARM) is trading up so far this morning, as high as $16.34 in the earlier morning hours. We took a more particular look at the energy industry today, as several of these companies have posted significant earnings surprises -- both up and down -- in their quarterly reports. Here are some of our findings:Baltimore-based Constellation Energy (CEG) produced a healthy 68+% earnings surprise of 37 cents per share. That said, the stock is down half a dollar in mid-day trading today. Based on the Zacks Price Response Indicator (PRI), we expect a 3.39% price increase in the 10 days following the EPS earnings report.According to Zacks equities analyst Jon Kolb, Constellation Energy is a diversified holding company for a group of energy businesses focused on wholesale power marketing and merchant generation. Tesco Corporation Reports Q3 2009 Results

HOUSTON, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Tesco Corporation ("TESCO" or the "Company") today reported a net loss for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 of $0.3 million, or $0.01 per diluted share.
This compares to a net loss of $3.6 million, or $0.10 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2009, and net income of $17.6 million, or $0.46 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2008.
Revenue was $72.6 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, compared to revenue of $88.4 million for the second quarter of 2009 and $140.0 million for the third quarter of 2008.
