That might sound like terrible news for hospital investors... But as I'll show you, the hospitals – and their shareholders – are set to come out way ahead on President Obama's health care reform. Obama's concept of health care reform is almost entirely focused on extending coverage to the 50 million uninsured Americans. As the number of uninsured shrinks, the amount of health care spending goes up. All sorts of health care providers – doctors, drugmakers, hospitals – win. Photonics (NASDAQ:PLAB) : Upgraded To 'Buy' At Merrill Lynch

Merrill Lynch is out upgrading Photronics (NASDAQ:PLAB) to Buy from Neutral while raising their target to $4 from $2. (The upgrade comes after the co reported its F2Q09 results two days ago) Merrill notes that although interest expense is increasing in the near term, revenue growth is starting to pick up again and expense cuts already in place increase cash available to service debt. In addition, the total debt level in F3Q drops $30mn when the new lease on the Nanofab takes affect. As PLAB’s financial flexibility increases, valuation multiples should climb toward ongoing concern peer levels. Half the peer P/TBV average would be 0.7x. After initial weakness in early trading, stocks managed a slow creep upwards today, eventually closing up strong, with banks and insurance stocks leading the way. Traders bought bank stocks, after Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner hinted that the results of the stress tests that the government is conducting on the nation’s banks will be favorable for the large banks. Tim Geithner told the congressional oversight panel that oversees the government’s $700 billion bank rescue plan that “the vast majority of banks have more capital than they need to be considered well capitalized by their regulators.” He also told the panel that with a balance of at least $134.4 billion left in the $700 billion rescue fund, there is still enough leftover to stabilize the financial[More...]
