      <title>New York Slow to Join Used-Vehicle Database</title>

      <title>Fuccillo Hit With Class-Action Suit: Auto Group Allegedly Sold Fraudulent Theft Insurance Policies</title>

      <description><![CDATA[&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Jan. 27--ALBANY -- A Slingerlands woman has filed a $5 million class-action lawsuit against Fuccillo Automotive Group Inc. for allegedly selling fraudulent insurance policies on theft protection. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Heidi Seekamp, who bought a new Hyundai Elantra from Fuccillo Lincoln Mercury Hyundai in Schenectady in May 2007, alleged in the lawsuit, filed earlier this month in U.S. District Court in Albany, that she was sold an insurance policy covering window etchings called an Auto Theft Security Discount Guarantee. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The policy, sold for $295 per car, could have been purchased by at least 17,000 Fuccillo customers in the state over the last three years, according to the suit.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;ul&gt;<a href=http://www.istockanalyst.com/article/viewarticle/articleid/2984284>[More...]</a>]]></description>

      <title>Tulsa World, Okla., Action Line Column: Car Database Forthcoming</title>

      <description><![CDATA[&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Oct. 3--Dear Action Line: Is there any government database that tracks stolen cars so it's not so easy for car thieves to sell them with bogus VINs and titles? &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;In February, the consumer groups Public Citizen, Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety, and Consumer Action sued the DOJ, saying the agency's unlawful delay in implementing the database was putting consumers at risk. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;On Sept. 22, U.S. Judge Marilyn Hall Patel, of San Francisco, ruled DOJ has until Jan. 30 to make this information available to consumers and ordered insurers and junkyards to submit their latest updates (on &quot;junk&quot; titles and vehicle identification&lt;/li&gt;&lt;ul&gt;<a href=http://www.istockanalyst.com/article/viewarticle/articleid/2679669>[More...]</a>]]></description>
