Today's Wall Street Journal had an article that asked the question "Can Rally Run without Revenue?" Is the revenue situation really that bad? Let's take a quick look at some the data compiled through the Alert HQ process. After each quarter's earnings season, I try to pull together what I am now calling the Growth Report. Part 1 compiles the list of stocks that have shown a year-over-year increase in both revenue and earnings AND a sequential quarter-over-quarter increase in both revenue and earnings. Six Promising Dividend Increases In The News

Last week S&P 500 had its largest weekly increase since 1974. Most investors are wondering if the bottom is in after the broad US index average bounced off its 11 year lows it had reached a week earlier. It was a week where Bloomberg reported stock dividends disappearing at the fastest rate since 1950s. According to the article the recession and global credit crunch are reducing profits for the fifth straight quarter and leaving less spare cash for quarterly payments to shareholders. May 19--Ever wonder if those road projects you pass on your daily commute are taking longer than planned?
Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, the York Water Co. and York City have started to collaborate on projects with the goal of inconveniencing drivers one time rather than on multiple occasions to complete various projects.
Last year, Columbia Gas launched its $1.5 billion, 20-year project to replace 2,400 miles of aging natural gas lines throughout its 26-county service area, including York County.

BRIEF: York Water Co. Reports Record Revenue in 2008

Mar. 10--The York Water Company posted its highest ever operating revenues, net income, and dividends in 2008, according to a company announcement Tuesday.
President Jeffrey Hines said the gains are due to an increase in the customer base, a new distribution surcharge, and increased rates that became effective last fall.
Net income increased 0.3 percent, to $6.4 million.

The York Water Company to Acquire the Beaver Creek Village Water System

Jeffrey R. Hines, President & CEO of The York Water Company , reported that York Water will acquire the Beaver Creek Village water system in Adams County, PA. 'This new acquisition will provide approximately 167 Beaver Creek customers with 'That good York water' and will also improve fire flows in the area,' according to Hines. York Water's fully filtered and treated water supply will be provided through a water main which will be constructed by York Water to interconnect with Beaver Creek's existing distribution facilities. The Beaver Creek customers will pay the same monthly rates as York Water's customers. Under current rates, Beaver Creek customers pay $36.36 for 4,000 gallons of water per month; under York Water's rates, they will pay $36.47. The interconnection is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. This acquisition marks the seventh water system acquired by York Water since January 2005.[More...]
