Wipro To Acquire Citi Technology Services Ltd. [India]

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited and Citigroup Inc . (Citi),the leading global financial services company, today announced that they have reached an agreement for Wipro to acquire Citi Technology Services Ltd., the India-based captive provider of information technology services and solutions to Citi entities worldwide, for an all cash consideration of approximately $127 million. As part of the transaction, Wipro and Citi will sign a Master Services Agreement for the delivery of Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) and Application Development and Maintenance (ADM) services for a period of six years. The agreement provides for the delivery of at least $500 million in service revenues over the period of the contract.

President of Portugal inaugurates Wipro office in Portugal

Wipro Technologies announced the inauguration of its office in Maia, Portugal by His Excellency, The President of the Portuguese Republic, Professor Aníbal Cavaco Silva. The Maia office is a part of Wipro's expansion strategy to build global delivery capabilities and support customers from near shore locations. The opening of this office represents a new milestone in the history of Wipro. Wipro entered the Portugal market in 2006 though the acquisition of Enabler – a leading Portuguese IT company, to strengthen and leverage its retail solutions portfolio and to expand Wipro’s global delivery footprint. Axway and Wipro Announce Strategic Alliance to Provide SaaS B2Bi Offering

Wipro and Oracle launch first joint innovative solutions lab

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited and Oracle today announced the launch of the innovative solutions lab (OZONE) at Wipro’s Electronic City Facility in Bangalore.Services provided at OZONE will help joint Wipro and Oracle customers to define their IT roadmaps. The new lab will provide customers with the opportunity to test the adoption of Oracle® Application Integration Architecture (AIA), Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle’s industry applications. The lab can demonstrate end-to-end industry specific processes and solutions, which leverage the strength of Oracle’s diverse portfolio of existing as well as newer Oracle software, and showcase innovative joint solutions developed by Wipro. This facility will also be used to co-develop solutions across specific industry processes in human capital management, customer relationship management and supply chain management.

Wipro BPO to set up Business Shared Services Centre in Curitiba, Brazil for AmBev

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited announced that its Business Process Outsourcing division, Wipro BPO, is setting up a Shared Services centre for AmBev, the largest brewery company in Latin America with leading brands like Brahma, Becks, Stella and Antarctica. The Shared Services Centre will provide services to AmBev across Latin America in the areas of Finance and Accounting, Order Management, Customer Services and HR Services. The partnership is expected to provide significant financial benefits and leverage transformation opportunities across AmBev operations in the region. These services will be provided from Wipro’s facility at Curitiba in Brazil.

Results for the Second Quarter ended September 30, 2008

Total Revenue for our quarter ended September 30, 2008 was Rs. 64.10 billion ($1.38 billion), representing an increase of 36% over the same period last year. Net Income for our quarter ended September 30, 2008 on GAAP basis was Rs.8.22 billion ($177 million), representing an increase of 1% over the same period last year. Net Income for our quarter ended September 30, 2008 on an Adjusted Non-GAAP basis (excluding impact of currency translation on foreign currency loan, related cross currency swap and India fringe benefit tax) was Rs. 9.47 billion ($204 million), representing an increase of 17% over the same period last year. Earnings per Share on the GAAP basis for our quarter ended September 30, 2008 were Rs. 5.66 ($0.121), representing an increase of 1% over the same period last year. Non-GAAP Adjusted Earnings per Share (excluding impact of currency translation on foreign currency loan, related cross currency swap and India fringe benefit tax) for our quarter ended September 30, 2008 were Rs. 6.51 ($0.141), representing an increase of 16% over the same period last year.

Wipro among the first SAP partners to adopt Run SAP® Methodology

Harman International and Wipro Form Engineering Partnership in India

Harman International Industries and Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited today announced the launch of a joint embedded engineering center in India.  The new Harman India Development Center will operate from Wipro’s existing Bangalore and Chennai facilities, complementing an earlier agreement which outsourced Harman’s global IT infrastructure services to Wipro. Beginning with about 250 employee resources through this engagement, Harman plans to grow its resource footprint in India to more than 1000 person-years by 2011, significantly strengthening its global engineering capabilities.

Wipro successfully implements Microsoft Dynamics AX at the Microsoft Business Solutions division

Wipro Technologies the global IT services business of Wipro Limited and Microsoft today announced the successful implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX at the Microsoft Business Solutions division. This project involved a transformational global Implementation serving 242 countries through five locations across the world, leading to standardization and harmonization of business processes across the organization. The Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP offers solutions in Financial Management, Supply Chain Management and Customer Relationship Management. With the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX, the processes of managing revenue deferrals, royalty payouts, and credit & collections have been simplified and consolidated across the various Microsoft regional operating centers. Wipro and Microsoft announce Expansion of their Strategic Alliance to Accelerate Benefits to Businesses

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT), today announced that it has been selected by NEC Electronics to provide semiconductor design services. Headquartered in Kawasaki Japan, NEC Electronics, one of the world's largest manufacturers of system-on-chip (SoC), microcontroller, and discrete semiconductor solutions. The development center was inaugurated by President and CEO of NEC Electronics, Toshio Nakajima at Wipro's Electronics City facility in Bangalore. The development centre will provide front-end and back-end design services and IP to NEC Electronics for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) and microcontrollers in the Digital Consumer and Automotive areas. Wipro will also work on various designs ranging from 150nm, 130nm up to 55nm.

Wipro-NewLogic and IN2FAB Technology launch Analog and Mixed Signal "Port on Demand" service

TiVo chooses Wipro’s DVB-T middleware to build HD DVRs

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited today announced that TiVo the creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), has adopted Wipro’s DVB-T and Common Interface (CI) software stacks for its solutions targeting Australian and European markets. Wipro's innovative "Upgrade- in-a-lab" model to help clients save around 30% on cost of PeopleSoft upgrade

Wipro joins The Green Grid

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited today announced its membership in The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. Wipro’s green IT initiatives extend from energy efficient data centers to eco-friendly product engineering designs and PC ranges. These data centers provide Wipro’s customers end-to-end services for better utilization of their capacity, thereby helping enterprises to minimize their use of power, cooling and housing equipment, which cause greenhouse gases.
