Seagate Is First Hard Drive Company To Achieve European Union's Authorised Economic Operator Status
Seagate has become one of the first companies – and the first hard drive company – to be certified as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) in the European Union (EU). This status means that customs authorities across the EU’s 27 member states will accept Seagate as a reliable and compliant operator and, as a result, the company will be able to benefit not only from simplifications provided for under the customs rules but also from facilitations with regard to customs controls relating to safety and security. AEO status will also give Seagate’s consignments priority at customs checks in the US and Asia. Seagate has achieved the most comprehensive level of certification; Full AEO or AEOF.

Seagate Technology Announces Move To Nasdaq Stock Market
Seagate Technology announced that it will switch its stock exchange listing from The New York Stock Exchange to The Nasdaq Stock Market, an exchange of The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NDAQ), effective September 16, 2008. Seagate Technology will be listed on The NASDAQ Global Select Market and trade on the exchange with the ticker symbol NASDAQ:STX.

£120 Million Investment Will Make Seagate's Derry Plant Global Technology Leader
Seagate Technology has announced a £120 million investment in its Springtown, Londonderry, plant, which will make it the global technology leader in the production of read-write heads for hard disc drives. The investment, which is expected to be completed in 2010, will go into new equipment, research and development, infrastructure and IT systems that will enable the factory to retain its position as the lowest cost and biggest producer of read-write heads in the world.

Seagate Secure™ Self-Encrypting Laptop Hard Drives Earn National Security Agency Qualification for National Security Systems
Seagate Technology today announced that the National Security Agency (NSA) has qualified the Momentus® 5400 FDE.2 hard drive, the storage industry’s landmark self-encrypting laptop PC hard drive, for use in laptops and other computers deployed by U.S. government agencies and contractors for national security purposes.
With the NSA qualification, the Momentus 5400 FDE.2 hard drive meets one of the highest standards for securing sensitive information – the National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Policy (NSTISSP) #11. NSTISSP #11 defines requirements for a wide variety of products that “satisfy a diversity of security requirements to include providing confidentiality for data, as well as authenticating the identities of individuals or organizations exchanging sensitive information.”

Seagate Technology Announces Dividend Increase and New $2.5 Billion Share Repurchase Authorization
Seagate Technology today announced that its Board of Directors has approved an increase in its quarterly dividend from $0.10 to $0.12 per share, effective with the dividend expected to be paid to shareholders after the conclusion of the company’s third fiscal quarter of 2008.
Additionally, the Board of Directors has authorized the company to repurchase up to an additional $2.5 billion of its outstanding common shares over the next 24 months. This new share repurchase authorization continues our commitment to enhancing shareholder value.
Seagate expects to fund the share repurchase through a combination of cash on hand, future cash flow from operations and potential alternative sources of financing. Share repurchases under this program may be made through a variety of methods, which may include open market purchases, privately negotiated transactions, block trades, accelerated share repurchase transactions or otherwise, or by any combination of such methods. The timing and actual number of shares repurchased will depend on a variety of factors including the common share price, corporate and regulatory requirements and other market and economic conditions. The share repurchase program may be suspended or discontinued at any time.

Seagate To Run On 100 Per Cent Renewable Energy
Seagate has today announced a decision which will dramatically reduce its carbon footprint in Derry.
The company has switched from traditional electricity supply to environmentally friendly wind power, supplied by Airtricity, Ireland’s leading renewable energy company. Airtricity specialises in the development of onshore and offshore wind farms and currently has 24 wind farms in operation throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Scotland.
Going forward, the electricity required to run the massive Springtown plant will be 100 per cent renewable, reducing the site’s carbon footprint by 41,800 tons of carbon dioxide, which equates to 95 percent of the total carbon emitted each year by Springtown. The reduction is the equivalent to the carbon dioxide emitted by 4,500 households per year.
