Cisco today announced that Frank A. Calderoni has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Feb. 15, 2008. Cisco Announces Intent to Acquire Remaining Interest in Nuova Systems
Cisco® today announced its intent to purchase the remaining 20 percent interest in San Jose-based Nuova Systems, a start up focused on the development of next-generation products for the data center market. Cisco today also introduced the Cisco Nexus 5000 Series, the first product developed by Nuova. The Cisco Nexus 5000 is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet "top-of-rack" switch that offers unified fabric capabilities through the support for multiple data center networking protocols and software intelligence. Prior to the acquisition, Nuova operated as a majority-owned subsidiary of Cisco, which had invested $70 million and owned 80 percent of the company. Cisco announced its initial investment in Nuova in August 2006 and announced an amendment to the agreement in April 2007 that expanded the development scope, increased the funding commitment and raised the maximum potential payout of the transaction to $678 million.

Cisco Completes Acquisition of Nuova Systems
Cisco® today announced it has completed the purchase of San Jose-based Nuova Systems, a startup focused on the development of next-generation products for the data center market. The final purchase price is success-based with the total value primarily determined by the revenue of Nuova products over three measurement periods. The first measurement period will commence in early fiscal year 2010, the second measurement period will commence in late fiscal year 2010, and the third measurement period will commence in mid fiscal year 2011. The minimum payout will be $10 million; maximum payout will be $678 million.

Cisco Announces Definitive Agreement to Acquire Pure Networks
Cisco today announced its intent to purchase privately held Pure Networks, a Seattle-based leader in home networking-management software and tools. Pure Networks' home networking-management solution allows users to easily set up and manage a home network and connect a range of devices, applications and services within a home Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay approximately $120 million in exchange for all shares of Pure Networks. The acquisition of Pure Networks is subject to various standard closing conditions and is expected to be complete in Cisco's first quarter of fiscal year 2009. Upon the close of the acquisition, Pure Networks' employees will remain in Seattle and be integrated into Linksys, led by Mike Pocock, Linksys senior vice president and general manager.

Cisco Announces Definitive Agreement to Acquire PostPath
Building upon its commitment to provide a comprehensive collaboration portfolio, Cisco today announced its intent to acquire privately held PostPath, Inc., a provider of innovative email and calendaring software. Based in Mountain View, Calif. with additional development operations in Sofia, Bulgaria, PostPath will enhance the existing email and calendaring capabilities of Cisco's WebEx Connect collaboration platform. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay approximately $215 million in exchange for all shares of PostPath. The transaction will be accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The acquisition is subject to various standard closing conditions and is expected to be complete in Cisco's first quarter of fiscal year 2009. Upon completion of the acquisition, PostPath employees will become part of the Cisco Collaboration Software Group (CSG).

Cisco Invests R215m in South African Economy
Cisco today announced a R215m (USD 27m) investment in the Cisco Innovation Hub Technology Centre (CIHTC) in Pretoria. The centre, which will be become the home of ICT initiatives including an InnovationLab, a Global Talent Acquisition Programme, the Cisco Netversity, an Entrepreneur Institute and a Software Development Programme, is expected to collectively help drive a R1bn (USD 125m) effect on gross domestic product (GDP) over an initial five year period. TELE Greenland and Cisco Bring IP Next-Generation Network to World's Largest Island
