Garmin® Announces Completion of the Acquisition of its Swedish Distributor Garmin announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Sportmanship International AB (“Sportmanship”), the distributor of Garmin’s consumer products in Sweden. The company is expected to be renamed Garmin Sweden AB and will retain its management, sales, marketing and supporting staff, consisting of approximately 28 people. Financial terms of the transaction were not released.

Garmin® Receives ODA Approval from FAA Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced today that it has received Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The ODA designation permits Garmin to conduct certain activities on behalf of the FAA, such as the authority to issue Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) approving installations of Garmin avionics in aircraft.  This delegation converts the existing Garmin Organization Designated Airworthiness Representative (ODAR) and Designated Alteration Station (DAS) organizations to ODA and extends the authority to include Garmin’s Salem, Oregon, facility.

Garmin® and Automotive OEM Celebrate Five-Year Partnership with New Navigation Systems Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced today that it has strengthened its partnership with BMW AG, by offering two new navigation devices to enhance the already successful line of BMW Portable Navigation Systems. Garmin® Signs Letter of Intent to Acquire Swedish Distributor Garmin Ltd.announced today that it has signed a letter of intent for the proposed acquisition of Sportmanship International AB (“Sportmanship”), the distributor of Garmin’s consumer products in Sweden.  The completion of the acquisition is subject to the negotiation and execution of a definitive acquisition agreement, the completion of legal and financial due diligence and customary closing conditions.  The acquisition is expected to be completed in December 2008.

Leading Australian mapping provider selects Garmin® for mobile phone navigation Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced today an agreement with Australian company Sensis whereby Garmin will be the turn-by-turn navigation provider for selected Telstra GPS-enabled mobile phones. Sensis, Australia’s leading information resource, and a wholly-owned Telstra subsidiary, will provide the point of interest information and other dynamic content for the navigation application, “Whereis® Navigator.” Whereis® Navigator is based on Garmin Mobile®, Garmin’s intuitive mobile phone application that gives turn-by-turn, voice-prompted navigation directly on the phone.

Garmin Reports Record Second Quarter Revenues on Strength of Automotive/Mobile and Outdoor/Fitness Segments

• Total revenue of $912 million, up 23% from $742 million in second quarter 2007
• Automotive/Mobile segment revenue increased 24% to $632 million in second quarter 2008
• Outdoor/Fitness segment revenue increased 54% to $119 million in second quarter 2008
• Aviation segment revenue increased 15% to $90 million in second quarter 2008

Garmin® Completes Acquisition of Distributor in Finland Garmin Ltd. announced today that it has completed the acquisition of NavCor Oy (“NavCor”), the distributor of Garmin’s automotive, outdoor recreation, fitness and marine products in Finland.  The company will be renamed Garmin Suomi Oy and will retain its management, sales, marketing and supporting staff, and will continue operations at its current headquarters and warehouse facility located in Lohja, Finland.

Garmin Adopts Rule 10b5-1 Plan in Conjunction with Share Repurchase Program Garmin Ltd. announced today that it has adopted a Rule 10b5-1 plan covering five million shares of the 10 million shares repurchase authorization that was approved by the company’s board of directors on June 6, 2008. A plan under Rule 10b5-1 allows a company to repurchase its shares at times when it otherwise might be prevented from doing so under insider trading laws or because of self-imposed trading blackout periods. A broker selected by Garmin will have the authority under the terms and limitations specified in the plan to repurchase shares on the company’s behalf in accordance with the terms of the plan. The company may terminate the plan at any time. Purchases of the remaining five million shares under the 10 million shares repurchase authorization may be made from time to time at the discretion of management as market and business conditions warrant.

Garmin® Announces 2008 Annual Dividend and Share Repurchase Program Garmin Ltd. announced today that its board of directors has approved the payment of a 2008 annual cash dividend in the amount of $0.75 per share. The dividend is payable to shareholders of record on December 1, 2008 and will be paid on December 15, 2008. Garmin Ltd. also announced that its board of directors approved a share repurchase program authorizing the company to purchase up to 10 million common shares of Garmin Ltd. as market and business conditions warrant.

Garmin® Signs Letters of Intent to Acquire Distributors in Austria and Portugal Garmin Ltd. announced today that it has signed  letters of intent for the proposed acquisition of Puls Elektronik GmbH (“Puls Elektronik”), the distributor of Garmin’s consumer products in Austria and Satsignal Equipamentos de Comunicações e de Navegação S.A.  (“Satsignal”), the distributor of Garmin’s consumer products in Portugal.  The completion of each of these acquisitions is subject to the negotiation and execution of a definitive acquisition agreement, the completion of legal and financial due diligence and customary closing conditions.  The acquisitions are expected to be completed by August 2008. Financial terms of the proposed transactions were not released.  Following the acquisition, Puls Elektronik is expected to change its name to Garmin Austria GmbH. and Satsignal is expected to change its name to Garmin Portugal S.A.  Puls Elektronik and Satsignal will each retain their management, sales, marketing and supporting staff, consisting of 30 people and 15 people respectively, and will continue operations at their current headquarters located respectively in Graz, Austria and Lisbon, Portugal.

MapQuest and Garmin® Announce a Partnership to Deliver MapQuest Directions and Maps Directly to Garmin GPS Devices MapQuest, Inc. and Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced plans for the upcoming launch of a new feature that will allow consumers to send trip planning results from MapQuest.com, the #1 online mapping website,* directly to their Garmin personal navigation device. Through the partnership, users can find a place, as well as plan and research routes, at MapQuest.com, then send the locations directly to Garmin GPS units by utilizing the “Send to GPS” drop down option. Users will then be able to easily access previously sent location data from their Garmin device without needing to input information directly on the device.

Garmin®Simplifies Searching, Sending and Navigating to Locations through Google Maps Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced that users can now send locations found on Google Maps™, an innovative online mapping service, directly to their Garmin personal navigation device. The process is quick and easy. Users begin by searching Google Maps for a specific business or a broader category – “Kansas City barbecue,” for example – and the results will appear on a map. The desired location can then be saved directly to the Garmin device through the Send-to function. This reduces delays, including delays that can be caused by intermediary software, so that users can immediately resume their search for more places or get in their car and go.

Garmin Opening Offices to Serve Australia, New Zealand Garmin Ltd today announced plans to open company-owned offices in Australia, to be known as Garmin Australasia Pty Ltd.  The new facility will include a full warehouse, sales, marketing and customer support staff that will provide an unprecedented level of service to dealers and customers in Australia and New Zealand for Garmin’s consumer products. Over the past 17 years, Garmin’s Australasian presence has been represented by GME.  Both GME and Garmin are working closely together to ensure a seamless transition for both dealers and customers. The transition for Australia is expected to be completed on July 1, 2008. The transition for New Zealand is expected to be completed on January 1, 2009.

Garmin® Announces New Marine Charts: More Details at a Lower Price

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., announced today the next generation of its BlueChart® g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision™ technology – giving boaters even more dimension and information to what is already considered the benchmark in marine cartography. Beginning January 2009, Garmin’s traditional BlueChart data will be replaced with a redefined version of BlueChart g2.  Building on the popularity of the BlueChart product family, the revised mapping data will add increased dimension and standardized information to the Garmin marine chart offerings, and will allow the user to define colors to depth contour ranges. Users will also benefit from improved transition between zoom levels and seamless changes across chart boundaries with the redesigned product.

Garmin® GHP™ 10 Autopilot System: Now Shipping and on Display

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced its GHP 10 Marine Autopilot system is now shipping to dealers and will be on display for the public at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (Bahia Mar electronics tent, booth #1305).  Garmin also introduced the GHC™ 10 Marine RF Autopilot Remote Control – giving boaters more freedom while controlling their boat. The GHP 10 Marine Autopilot has been critically acclaimed for its unique capabilities and ease of use.  It uses an ingenious Shadow Drive™ technology – a patented capability that automatically disengages the autopilot if the helm is turned, allowing for quick manual maneuvers without manually disengaging the autopilot.  Once the helmsman has re-established a new course, the GHP 10 will automatically resume control.  The GHP 10 employs the industry-standard NMEA 2000 interface, and it is designed primarily for boats up to 70 feet using outboard, inboard or stern drives using hydraulic steering.

Garmin® Enhances Functionality of Fleet Management Interface

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced that it has launched improvements to its Fleet Management Interface (FMI) system to include highly requested features such as canned responses and messages, driver ID and driver status protocol.  Garmin’s FMI service is integrated with leading mobile resource management companies to enable fleet tracking, messaging, dispatch and navigation directly on Garmin’s portable navigation devices. With Garmin’s FMI, fleet dispatchers can send multiple destinations and other instructions directly to their drivers. With a tap on the screen, drivers can access detailed turn-by-turn, text-to-speech, voice prompted directions to their destinations. The recently updated FMI specifications, v2, include enhanced options that will improve customer response, optimize fleet resources, and ultimately, achieve lower costs and higher profits for the company.

Garmin® Announces the GPSMAP® 600 Series: Touchscreen, Rugged and Ready for Land or Sea
Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced the GPSMAP 640 – an ultra portable and rugged touchscreen navigator that comes preloaded with a comprehensive set of street maps and marine charts.  Garmin also introduced the GPSMAP 620, which shares the same intuitive interface and is designed for markets outside the United States. Portable and powerful, the GPSMAP 600 series features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver and boasts an intuitive, waterproof (IPX7) super-bright 5.2” WVGA touchscreen display (800 x 480 pixels) that reacts as users tap or drag through intuitive menus and options.  The GPSMAP 640 comes preloaded with comprehensive street maps of North America and worldwide shaded relief mapping in addition to detailed U.S. coastal BlueChart®g2™ charts.  When placed in its included marine mount, these new portables will automatically start up in marine mode, presenting chart features such as shaded depth contours, port plans, wrecks, restricted areas and more.

Garmin® Introduces New Line of VHF Marine Radios
Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd announced today the VHF 100 and VHF 200, two new powerful VHF radios designed for both OEM and aftermarket applications. The VHF 100 is Garmin’s entry-level radio, offering 25 watts of transmit power and Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capability via NMEA 0183.  In addition to dedicated buttons and knobs for ease of use, the VHF 100 features three soft keys that allow boaters to intuitively see and select the information they want, while eliminating the clutter they don’t.  That information is presented on a 3.2-inch display – the largest screen available in its class.  The VHF 100 also features NOAA weather alerts and Position Tracking, which allows a mariner to locate and keep tabs on up to three other boats that use a Garmin system.

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced the next evolution of the popular nüvi 2x5 series, adding top-of-the-line features to this family of affordable navigators.  The nüvi 265T, 265WT and 275T enhance upon their 2x5-series predecessors with Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free calling and provide free traffic alerts. Garmin’s G600™ Receives Certification, Deliveries Begin

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced today that it has received FAA Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certification with an Approved Model List (AML STC) for the G600, a revolutionary new avionics suite designed for the retrofit and forward fit avionics market. The FAA’s approval allows the G600 to be installed in 785 different makes and models of normal and utility category aircraft, including twin combustion engine and turbo-prop engine aircraft with a certification weight up to 12,500 lbs. Garmin’s G600 incorporates two individual displays – a PFD and MFD – in a customized package designed for easy retrofit installation. The G600 combines primary flight data including attitude and air data with navigation, weather, terrain and traffic data displayed in an intuitive pictorial format on dual LCD displays. Garmin GMA 240 Audio Panel for Experimental and Light Sport Aircraft

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced today the GMA 240 audio panel, a non-certified audio panel designed for experimental and light sport aircraft. The GMA 240 includes many popular control and indication features found on Garmin’s certified audio panels, and has an attractive sub-$1,000 price point. The GMA 240 includes a 4 place stereo intercom system and support for two stereo music inputs.  It has dual COM, NAV and AUX audio inputs. Garmin® Offers Map Data For Travelers to Beijing

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced today that it is now offering City Navigator® China NT 2008 – just in time for tourists who plan on traveling to Beijing in August. Offering nearly seven million points of interest (POIs) and available on a convenient microSD/SD card, users simply insert the maps into virtually any current Garmin personal navigation device (PND).  Road and POI names are presented in Pinyin, the most common Latin-alphabet phonetic spelling of Mandarin Chinese.  These maps offer full coverage of China, including street level detail for more than 980 cities and the roads that connect them – just select a destination and your nüvi gives you turn-by-turn directions to that location.

The nüvi 500 comes preloaded with detailed street and topographic mapping for the lower 48 U.S. states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.  The nüvi 550 boasts comprehensive street map coverage of the U.S. and Canada.  When either model is used with an optional receiver, users can receive important updated information from Traffic Message Channel or MSN Direct.  The dynamic content from the MSN Direct network includes traffic conditions, fuel prices, weather reports, movie listings, headline news, stock updates and local events.  A scooter mount will come standard in select European markets and sold as an optional accessory elsewhere.

Garmin® Introduces New and Improved Astro® GPS Dog Tracking Collar

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced the DC™ 30, a completely redesigned GPS dog tracking collar for use with the Astro GPS Dog Tracking System.  The new collar is more rugged and its antennas are positioned differently for optimal tracking. The DC 30 collar’s main housing is weighted to sit below the dog’s neck, while a small, low-profile GPS antenna is integrated into the collar strap and positioned on top of the dog’s neck, providing a clear view of satellites with minimal rotation.  The transmitter antenna originates from the lower housing, and has been redesigned for more flexibility and ruggedness.  No counterbalance or harness is needed.  The weight for the transmitter plus antenna is 4.1 ounces, and the entire DC 30 weighs just 8.7 ounces.

Garmin® Avionics Stack Available Soon on MD Helicopter Fleet

Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced that MD Helicopters Inc. has selected Garmin panel mount products as the standard avionics package for its current production aircraft including the MD 600N, MD 520N, MD 530F and MD 500E. This announcement was made in conjunction with the Heli-Expo trade show, the world’s largest event dedicated to the international helicopter community.   The new MD Helicopters avionics panel will include Garmin’s GMA 347 audio panel, GNS 430W all-in-one GPS/NAV/COM, SL 40 NAV/COM transceiver, and GTX 328 Mode S Transponder.  The panel will also include Garmin’s GI 106 course deviation indicator (CDI), and GAE 43, a 35,000-foot encoder.  Initial deliveries of MD Helicopters with Garmin Avionics are expected with newly signed purchase agreements in 2008.

Garmin Delivers Navigation for Ford Commercial Vehicles

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. today announced that its navigation technology will be available in Ford’s new 2009 F-150, F-Series Super Duty pickups, and commercial E-Series vans, designed to make business owners more productive and successful.  The relationship was announced today at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show.
